Absolutely rastus! This is a 1944-S Jefferson Silver (35%) War Nickel. During WWII, nickel was needed for the war effort! So between the years of 1942-1945, the element nickel was removed from many of the nickels of the same year, and the nickel was substituted for 35% silver, When WWII ended in 1945, the element of nickel was returned to the Jefferson, and NO more silver after the War ended! Again, good luck and ignore statements like the first one, because it is obvious they do not know a great deal about the value of coins nor their composition! Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New Year to you and yours!!
