The listing, Vintage Sunday Hanky Doll has ended.
Originally crafted as quiet toys for children as far back as the Civil War days. These simple little dolls were made from handkerchiefs for little girls. They were carried to church and were known as "Sunday toys" because they were only to be played with on Sundays. Some mothers would even place sugar cubes in the head for young children to silently suck on during a service.
I make these with all new materials so this is a replica. This one the hanky is a pretty soft blue with daisies in white and pink. The ribbons are a pale pastel blue and aqua.
