This was pulled from a retired Dell optiplex desktop.

The drive was formatted and tested on an IDE bridge.

There is not a operating system on the drive. The computer bios will read the drive to determine the capacity and other default settings.

would you be willing to install DOS or other simple system on it tomake it easier for the winner to launch it? i have won other hard drives like this otherwise that have been useless to me because BIOS recognized but that was it.

No, because I don't have any DOS. Because, when you install it as a primary drive BIOS will recognize it and the newer computers require a setup or startup disk. Many people either used these as a secondary drive or replacing a primary in which they have or made a setup disk for their system. I have never had a issue with selling disk drives this way. Also I am not selling a drive with an OS installed. I NEVER do that!
