NIB littlest pet shop toy. package is banged up-a cut on the side. This has not been opened batteries are included but they do not work. I have not taken the batteries out.This looks like a fun toy. it is a few years old. (2005)

Please help me understand this "batteries are included but they do not work. I have not taken the batteries out." How do u know that they don't work if this toy hasn't been open & batteries havnt been tookin out?

there is a demo button on the side for people to try when it was in the store. the button doesnt do anything now, so the batteries must be dead.
