This is a tablet and it is not locked to any carrier. However, it is NOT GSM which means to use data ie. LTE, you need to have a Sprint or Verizon sim card. Thank you.

I am not as savvy as you when it comes to tablets so what does that mean? Does the tablet still connect with wifi to the internet?

What I meant was, this tablet can connect to the internet via WiFi OR data (from a carrier provider). However, the carrier MUST be either sprint or Verizon or other companies that support CDMA (ie. NOT AT&T, T-mobile, other GSM companies). If you have questions regarding this, wikipedia is a powerful friend and I'm also open to answering anymore questions.

I was getting this for a young man 7 yrs old and thought it was a tablet because it has wifi, but all that other stuff you just told me I don't know anything about that!
