The listing, Steer Skull Honest to Goodness Real Skull has ended.
So, I'm done with the skull and ready to give it up...you can have it now. One of the teeth fell out but I saved it.
No free shipping for this doggie. It will require a big box and I can pack it securely and ship using FEDEX. No, it will NOT fit into an envelope or a flat rate box!
Local pick up available south of San Francisco during certain day time hours only.
Questions & Comments
DO NOT bleach it. bleaching a skull removes certian minerals and cuses the bode to rapidly decay. googlesearch skull cleaning instructions for proper methods. Im bidding. i could use this in my natural history musem to educate about the differences between horns and antlers.
source: I am a museum curator, and I have a Bachelors degree in interpreive Bioology and natural history and a masters degree in biology education.
man, Biology, not bioology rofl. sure doesn't look like I have any degrees with my spelling! hahahah! I need to delete the stupid dictionary on my phone- every time I make a typo it saves it.
Makes me wannabe a Luddite (being a weaver...I could do that). Luddites are named after textile artisans who destroyed mechanized looms according to Wikipedia!
veronica- please bid away! I have plenty of other skulls in my museum, its just we can always use more :) I personally think its a cool conversation piece too. does the big guy have a name?
Good people on here! I like to see the nice conversational correspondence on listings ;) I would bid... if we were not stuck in an apartment for the next 8 months. lol. Great listing.
I just began a collection of skulls myself! So far I've acquired two raccoons, an otter, a bobcat, a coyote, an opossum, a sparrow, a complete seahorse skeleton, a small skull of which animal I have not yet identified (has flat teeth but no buck teeth so I don't think it's a rabbit... hmmm..), and a female deer head... would love to have a male. I have no idea where I would put him but I WANT this so bad! Maybe I'll store him at my BF's house if I win? :D AWESOME AUCTION!
Wow, you've really got a diverse collection. Are you an artist? Some artists keep them for reference. Your avatar says to me maybe you are an artist. I'll ship him to you but you have to take him to your boyfriends house, LOL. He IS a big boy... Hey, I have an idea, how about a hood ornament? Do you have a car?
Everyone is laughing except for the good old boy on my porch! Glad you stopped in to say hi, come again before it's over, maybe we'll have bigger laughs then! Wait, my mother-in-law is coming Sunday/Monday/Tuesday; I can't visit so much then and that's no laughing matter!
got one of these decaying in the back yard...we butchered "sirloin" and kept the skull. I guess I could list the skunk skull if it is clean enough...and then rabbit skulls once we butcher them...never thought of listing them here...good luck!
This one was about $30.00 but it was over 20 years ago that I bought him. Thanks for stopping in stuff4u! He is a Texan also! I had to ship him home and I took him to a packing store to do it and they thought I was nuts. Ha, maybe so!
I am willing to send to the UK however I have found that items takes a very long time to arrive. It is also very costly, I can investigate the cost if you are serious. Let me know little one. I can do Paypal : )
I AM an artist actually! Haha I'm in college for illustration and the skulls are indeed for reference (and just because I want them)! I showed this listing to my boyfriend and he totally wants to throw this ol' steer on the front of his behemoth of a vehicle, (it's an Expedition... how cool would that look?!)
Ha, I thought so. And being an artist I thought you'd like the hood ornament idea. A person in my town (cars rust out like crazy) has little squirrels permanently glued down ALL OVER her car. Of course they are odd little things that I'm sure people donate to her. Not real ones though...at least I don't think so, I'll have to look closer! Good luck if you decide to bid! The Expedition and this old boy would turn heads and start conversations like mad. I'm an artist married to an engineer and he objects to putting it on my hood. Sigh. gotta keep the peace.
I'm makeing room for it now been wanting one for years nows my chance to try to get one go great w/my goat skull if i win this one my next gole will be human skull (dont ask not all morbid or any thing i like diff 'things)
here in texas horned cow skulls are very popular they use water based paint and paint indian symbols on them and make them into beautiful works of art to hang in the den or on the porch wall. the longer the horns the more they cost. this skull has a nice set of horns
how south of san francisco are you? i love this. I live on Market st. in the city and i would hang this in my apt .window,,,,,The tourists would love it
Oh yeah, just the kind of thing the tourists expect to see in The City. OMG Harold, look up there in that window, etc! How far south? North of Montara...south of Daly City.
I figured the 275 credits was too low...so at least I raised it a bit...It's really neat...Don't know how high Jude1369 will make me go...! My daughter is a tattoo artist as well as a painter...Bet she could do a number on this puppy...I mean "doggie". LOL!
Just like my Texas friend (jerry R) up above , I see these quite often in Northern Az.- they are very popular . G Okeefe, did a really nice series of skulls. .
G O'keefe - yes! She was an amazing artist. I do see these skulls hanging around mainly in the west; like you mention. The dry heat is probably best for them.
Well...this is the first time I have sat and read this many post on one Auction! I have really entertained myself with this Auction for several minutes! Thanks for the laughs guys! Please lay the old boy to rest!
Welcome team doggie! Love your avatar. I had to bring him into the house; being on FB has gone to his head. Poor guy, that's all he's got left. Who can blame him?
Ok, here is a place to see the horn without that "skin". I know we aren't supposed to post links to outside places but this is just so you can see; not a place that sells anything, it's my flickr account http://www.flickr.com/photos/sheilasthings/
See how his horns are dark? WELL The dark outer "skin" lifts off and he's got the white horns underneath. I just discovered that while checking him out this morning. I'll take a photo of him without the outer layer on his horns and post them to my flickr account so you can see what I'm talking about. It freaked me out, hope someone knows what that's all about. Hint, hint, ndwilson86.
