In tropical climates this Brazilian shrub or small tree is draped most of the year in masses of its signature pendulous flowers. The dangling ornamental clusters highlighted in soft shades of pink are trimmed with a skirted bottom and delicately pointed 'tips' reaching upwards. Averaging 9-13" this flower and its many hybrids have been prized in cottage gardens since the early 1800's, when first discovered.

During the lazy heat of the day, the flowers will remain half closed. As the sun begins to set, the romantic bells open and emit their dreamy scent on the cool breeze of the evening.

Colder climates pot and overwinter indoors or the greenhouse. Depending on heat, humidity and light, the plant can continue to grow and even produce blooms. Or cut back and overwinter in a covered garage or shed.
