The listing, MY GRANDMA'S ~ ANTIQUE/VINTAGE ~MOTHER of PEARL EARRINGS with STERLING SILVER CLOSURES has ended.

Just Think ~~~~ about 80 years or so ago, a talented Craftsman, in far off Japan, turned a Seashell into these wearable works of Art. Wow!!
I am always amazed at the Creativity & resourcefulness of Humankind ~~

Look at the COLORS!! The SHEEN!!
Such Beauty to behold ~~
Back there in Japan, a young Serviceman, also was taken with the SAME, Beauty, Colors & Sheen & bought them to bring home to his Sweetheart~~

My Grandma Blanche was that Lucky Lady ;0)

She was probably the kindest & most Gentle Woman I ever met. She bore a gaggle of Daughters into the World, along with my wandering Grandpa Honorious, & my Mom was one of them.

Back in the early 1950's work was hard to find & salaries low, which meant both my Parents had to work & Grandma Blanche watched me until they got home at night. We had a Special relationship for which I am forever grateful.
At her passing, she asked my Mom to please be sure that I got her Jewelry. I was still too young too be wearing Pearls & Earrings to Grammar School, so my Mom put them up for me until several years ago.
I have been going through her lovely things as time goes on & when I find more that I feel I can part with, I will share them with you ;0)

The photos are the best description. They are not anywhere near new & perfect. As you can see, the backs have been glued back on a ew times ( my Mom has a couple of stories about she & her Sisters fighting about who was going to be borrowing them for their dates)
I tried to use a Loupe to show the Sterling mark on the backs & I was borderline successful. I'll try to take a better shot. Also there is an imperfection on the rear rim of one that cannot be see when wearing them. iIt is shown on the 2nd to last photo.
Ask questions if need be & obviously they are offered "as is". Much used & much Loved.

Shipping is Free, Careful & with Free Tracking.

Thanks for visiting & indulging me my Story.
I just Love items from our past sooo much ;0)

Be well~~

I absolutely enjoyed reading your description- the story and history behind these. Enchanting. I appreciate you offering them here. It would be silly to hold onto every single tangible item, when it is the memory that lives on.. :)

Beautiful earrings and story.I knew before I got down to the location you are a southern girl. Whether you were born in the south or taught the genteel manners and spirit later, it shows through your story telling. From one southern girl (born in TN)that grew up in multiple southern states, I was taken back to those beautiful places were the oaks have Spanish moss hanging from them. Long country roads that are canopied by trees. Then last of all to my now gone grandma's house here in FL that grandpa built her with wrap around porch, huge pecan and oak trees, and meals cooked from food she got out of her garden. Thank you. .Blessed Be

What a wonderful tribute to your grandma. It sounds like you were very blessed to see them as much as you did! I only got to see my grandparents 2 times a year growing up ( i changed that when i could drive but unfortunately, my grandma had passed by that time)however, i treasure the memories i have of them and going to their cafe , the Snappy Lunch cafe in mt.airy,nc.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
