This a very rare hand carved extremely detailed antique soapstone inkwell or vase I collect hand carved soapstone the oriental stuff lot comes from Canada but it different soapstone either that or Chinese people just that much more skilled than us lol what a shock but like I said I listed this piece cuz I broke tiny petal off the flower in the center of vase I mean you probably didn't notice till I told you because the work is so beautiful I'm sure thought was supposed be like that it is very fragile soapstone anyways I don't know how far back it goes I know it at least 130 years old I bought this piece with several others at an antique auction and I am only one there wanted the oriental stuff I got soapstone lots of real old signed snuff bottles too so I know because who held auction they was not feeding me as told me they were from think 1890 or 95 I know it was at beginning or end of century any way good luck and don't worry it won't break during shipment I know how to ship very well I have had one piece someone claimed arrived broke but never did send photos so don't worry bout that.
