I have a 80gb western digital IDE interface hard drive Model number:WD800BB-22JMC0, 5400RPM that works fine and was pulled for a upgrade and will be formatted and ready to install

this is an internal and I'm not real sure it would work with MAC

yea I tested it and then replaced it with a sats drive so yes I know it works just fine there is still a copy of XP home on it if the winner desided they wanted me to leave it

Yea it would work with just about any OS it's just a matter of your motherboard and drivers as to wether or not it would work
