Description
The listing, Ghost Fern FROND (1) has ended.
The frond I am auctioning off has dried nicely and when it is sent will be crushed up and ready to sprinkle over top of your pre-moistened peat moss. There will be thousands of spores in the crushed leaf to start your own ferns. I do suggest that you do an internet search on the many ways you can sprout these and find the way that suites you best to do. The way I was told was to pre moisten good quality peat moss, making sure it is not wet just damp and place in a small container that is no larger than an inch with the peat moss being aprox. 1/2 inch in container. Sprinkle the spores/crushed leaf over top then place in a plastic baggie and the people told me that I should close up the bag but I believe you will have mold issues so I suggest you leave enough of an opening for some air to cirulate but check it often (daily) to make sure it has not dried out. Place in area that it isn't going to have hot sun and this is where you can experiment on trying this in a semi-dark part of the room, or close but not directly under lights.
Questions & Comments
ive read online that this plant is a hybrid and that therefore the spores are sterile
I see the confusion, up here in my area this is called Ghost Fern but actually it is a Japanese Painted fern. Compare photos to see for yourself on the differences The Japanese Painted fern is what has many different colors. The true Ghost fern has slight blue/white and green. http://www.arhomeandgarden.org/plantoftheweek/articles/Japanese_Painted_Fern.htm
