Do you use those plastic rings to mark off your knitting? They slip on the needle and can mark off the stitch count or indicate a place where you increase or decrease stitches. I once knitted a picture with over 150 stitches in width. Don't try that without markers. You can't find those any more, but you can make your own easily and for little or NO cost.
