I'm not going to do a good job of explaining it b/c I'm still so new to it. I was told that kawaii means "cute" and it includes many, many different characters. Here's a really great site that explains about it and the history and stuff: http://www.japanpowered.com/japan-culture/what-is-kawaii I hope that helps. Or maybe one of my other kawaii buds will come in here and give a much better explanation of it.
