These nubby glass spheres always reminded me of Sputniks for some reason. I saw them at a bead show a few years ago and purchased quite a few. I just started going through my bead collection so if your a fan keep watching. They are tied onto a leather cord, I do that so I don't loose my favorite things amongst all the other beads. I found them very unusual, I made a really nice necklace adding them to my own polymer clay beads. There almost half an inch long.
