Description

The listing, Green Beans-Mountaineer Half Runner 25+ seeds has ended.

I plant these every year, and always have a bountiful garden full of delicious green beans to cook and can. Great taste, and the most popular green bean in this area. They must be strung, but that is sometimes your best tasting bean. U.S. only Listia rules

I tried growing greens beans last year in my raised garden and they didn't have much flavor. I can't wait to try your beans. Where I live our soil is terrible. Wish I could buy some of yours haha

I am such a gardening enthusiast I would be shipping you soil if I could. I am really particular about what kind of green beans I plant, as they can be tasteless where they try so hard to grow them for marketing they lose the taste of some of the old favorites. I grow a lot of great tasting pole beans, but they have to be supported and lots of trouble. I can even neglect beans a little more than tomatoes, as they aren't as easily damaged by hot sun and too little water. Good luck to all.

I wish I could get that soil! I drove an hour away to a different county to get free gardening soil and loaded it up in the trunk of my brand new car on top of a huge plastic tarp just to have it for my raised garden beds. I know that soil can make a difference between having a 2 inch plant never goes beyond 4 inches and never bearing any veg... Ever! or having so many veggies you're sharing it with neighbors.

Bravo for you, sounds like me! I used to come home from work and work my garden by the porch light, and I use something called manure tea to grow lots of cucumbers. You can find recipe on line I am sure. The neighbor and I see who can grow the most green beans, and he usually gets so overwhelmed he gives me a couple of rows to pick and can. It seems the more I share the more productive the garden is. If the bean plants start looking pale, I mix Epson salts in water and pour around the plants and adds magnesium to spruce them right up.
