is this what my son needs for his older xbox 360 (white one) to be able to have internet on it, and also will it work with any wifi router as I don't know what mine is for sure.

Yes this will give the Xbox 360 the ability to have wireless internet. You would need to have a router that sends the wireless signal out in either a, b, or g form.

Check what the model # is on the router then type that into google to get the specifications on it.
