absolutely fascinating, riveting and outstanding
Transcendent Man is a 2009 documentary film by American filmmaker Barry Ptolemy about inventor, futurist and author Ray Kurzweil and his predictions about the future of technology in his 2005 book, The Singularity is Near. In the film, Ptolemy follows Kurzweil around his world as he discusses his thoughts on the technological singularity, a proposed advancement that will occur sometime in the 21st century when progress in artificial intelligence, genetics, nanotechnology, and robotics will result in the creation of a human-machine civilization. This documentary tracks the life, work and predictions of controversial technologist Ray Kurzweil. He believes that human and artificial intelligence will synthesize at some point in the future, blurring the line between man and machine, a transformation he terms "The Singularity." Kurzweil's opinions are complemented by interviews with noted personalities such as Colin Powell and Stevie Wonder, although needless to say his views also have many detractors. Perfect for "nerds" (like me!) and people who think outside the box! Great for mind researchers, people who liked the Ascent of Man & Cosmos.
Music: Philip Glass
If you like evolution, computers, artificial intelligence, self awareness, cybernetics, robots, physics, sci fi, time travel, Aubrey de Grey, aliens, this one is for you! A fantastic presentation for Superior Minds! I wish I could attend the Singularity University but I simply cannot afford it!
If you watched the movie Transcendence and wondered about the science behind it, this is where you'll find it! If you ever wondered if you could study a whole encyclopedia in one minute this movie will explain how! Most of all this film is for a person who enjoys thinking.
