Description

The listing, jewelweed soap( be prepared for poison ivy) has ended.

This is from my personal stash made extra strength from glycerin soap and freshly picked jewelweed in the Appalachian Mountains. It is used for a variety of skin ailments. Native Americans used jewelweed to prevent the spread of poison ivy, oak, sumac, stinging nettle and it is good for relieving insect bites and stings. This is two personal sized cakes, perfect for taking on a hiking trail. Dont be in the woods without it. These two bars will probebly carry you through an entire season with some to share. Great for the outdoorsman in your life or for the gardeners, landscape workers, fishermen, etc. Took me a long time to climb the ravines and collect this batch. Your getting a good deal.

Does jewelweed have a distinctive scent? Thinking of keeping this in a sealed container outside by the spicket for after gardening, just don't know if it's a strong or mild scent, etc. This is the kind of thing I can appreciate, fanned && watching!

Not much of a scent. That is a good idea you have there. One of these bars will last a long time. I've always kept a bar in a baggie in my pocket when I venture in the wilds. Im not affected by ivy myself, but some of my buddies are so I always keep some with me. After thirty years of sharing my soap my list of friends wanting some has grown. I made a hugh batch this year and have a large stash remaining. I gather wild herbs from the mountains and spend lots of times in the rivers and creeks here so I'm always around ivy and bee stings. I like your idea though, so thanks, I will now keep a bar in a jar by my outside faucet for my visiting guests to use.

Jewelweed really works! I'm immune to poison ivy but my dog isn't... I make a jelly out if it and rub it on here when she gets into it. Soap is a really great idea, never thought of it.

i make my own shampoo for my dogs and never even thought of that. She is short and gets rashes on her belly, I bet that is what it is as she hikes with me. I'll start carrying an extra bar for her, lol. thanks for that idea.

I make dog shampoo and make my own washing powder and have made numerous kinds of bathing soaps. I make what I was raised making, not necessarily making products for resale as all my friends take most of it,lol. I collect all kinds of wild herbs, mostly in the spring, and make products out of some and some I eat and some I sell. If there is something you are interested in let me know and I will see what I can do for you. I prefer natural remedies to store bought. Right now I'm drying autumn olive berries, which I understand are being used in cancer studies. They are full of lycopene. Will have a little available this year, and lots will be offered next fall. Old granny here.
