Logitech webcam. previously used, in excellent condition. Does not come with any cd/software or instructions, but most computers will recognize device and window will pop up to be able to download.install webcam easily - or can go to Logitech website and download yourself. Comes with webcam and attached cord that plugs into computer.

Sound would come from the computer speakers you plug webcam into. If your computer has headphone capability, that should work for private conversations, but I have never tried it with headphones. Thanks! : )

does it have a built-in microphone or would I have to attach a separate microphone for voice conversations?

no, just webcam that plugs into computer...when we used it on our computer, sound came from our computer microphone and we heard throug computer speakers.

Does it clip onto a laptop?

there is no clip...it is the kind that rests on top of computer monitor. Would work with laptop, but probably wouldn't balance or stay like it does on regular monitor. See picturs - the base of webcam is how it sits on monitor.
