It is a 45 rpm record. 78 rpm's are much larger, have most often only one song to a side and much thicker. The first 78's were produced around the turn of the century (the last century) and became universal by the 20's. 78 rmp was the standard until after WWII, when 45's (singles) and 33 1/3's (albums) came into their own. Cassettes were mass marketed for music recordings after the Dolby noise reduction system was introduced in the 70's. Prior to that, they were produced for dictation, and they were too noisey for music. The very early 80's ushered inthe CD, and the introduction of Mp3 plyers in the 90's have reduced CD sales in about the last eight of 10 years. Though I listen to most of my music through digital means, having records is a heck of a lot of fun. Vinyl has been making a resurgence in recent years, as the playing needle and other apperatus become more refined with modern technology. Thanks for listing. Somewhere around here, I have Bob Gandalfi's "Do they know it's Chritmas Time?" But, of course, no record player. LOL
