This memory will not work in a laptops (or servers) but works fine in home PCs. Tell me your PC maker, model number and I may be able to tell if you could benefit from this memory. If you have less than 8GB of memory in four slots inside your desktop or 4GB in two slots, than this upgrade might be useful. Note: the older 32 bit machines even with 4GB of memory can only see 3.5 GB, so if you have 4GB of memory in 4 banks, using this lot to try to bump up to 6GB will not be useful.
To tell for sure, run Crucial's Memory Test: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/systemscanner and tell me the results from the middle of the page on the left (it may take a minute to get the results). See the last image I have posted.
It is said by some that you should get memory of the same kind and the same manufacture to ensure compatibility. However if as in this case, you get the same kind but not the same manufacturer, it may not matter that much. If the upgrade doesn't work for you, I'll refund and you can keep the memory and not have to ship it back. The two sticks of memory are the same size memory, the same speed, the same chip sizes, the same latency and the same voltage.
