What you have is a set of opium scales.. Dont worry thay are legal to own and are very collectable. I dont see one piece, a small rod smaller then a pincel with a treaded end that would screw into the the hole in the center of the case. the purpose of this rod was to hold the scales in an upright position and balanced. nice set..

The rod would be very easy to replace. a rod section from a gun cleaning kit is very close if not the same size. the main and most important pieces are there.. good luck on a nice find...
