Movie Info:
In this good-natured family-oriented comedy, a little girl wishes for a fairy godmother and ends up with middle-aged, klutzy Murray (Martin Short). Though he really wants to be a fairy godmother but can't seem to pass that darned written test. Claudia (Kathleen Turner) is a fairy god-mother gone bad who uses her newfound witchly powers to disrupt a fairy godmother convention in hopes of retrieving her long-lost wand. Anabel (Mara Wilson) is the girl who wants a fairy godmother to grant her wish that her widower father Oliver (Robert Pastorelli) land a role in an upcoming Broadway musical so he can fulfill his dreams and not have to move back to Nebraska. One magical night, her prayer for assistance is answer when Murray appears in her room clutching the wand Claudia so desires. Somehow the magic staff gets broken and so every time Murray tries to use it, things go terribly wrong. Matters really go awry when he accidentally turns Anabel's father into a bronze statue located in Central Park. If Murray can't repair his error in 24 hours, Oliver will remain a stiff forever. Unfortunately, evil Claudia and her assistant Boots (Amanda Plummer) are closing in and time is growing short.
