The listing, Vintage Folkartsy Red Tin Hexagon sewing box has ended.
This is the coolest little sewing box Ive ever seen!
Bright red painted tin
Hexagon shaped
Each little side of the hex opens up to it's each own litttle treasure box store pins & things
All hinges work smoothly , no catches or rust or pitting.
Each top has very simple sketch in gold painting of OLD sewing notions
An old thread spindle,Safety pin,Vintage style hook & eye on one,Button,Thimble and Straight Pins.
Each lid has dotted lines that look like stitching on the edges.
This had to be a salesman's sample for the exquiste & near perfect shape it's in?
The center is a red 3 inch across flat pin cushion
The bottom is immaculate & has all the slip tabs for the box's assembly.
There's a paper cardboard disc on the under side, no bends or kinks in it.
I spins freely. This looked like it was a lazy susan type sewing box?
Gray & white diagonal checkerboard pattern on the disc.
Paper is secure on more than half of the surface & has a slight 1/2 inch tear on one edge. Disc is all in tact though.
No glue drips or discolorations on it.
There are some gray letters on the paper. I cant make them out nor can I see what they are from an imprint through the backside of the paper.
There are 2 darker letters of capital "AN" above it. Im sure that is only part of the original whole stamp.,,,maybe fo made in Japan?
There are absolutely no stamps or markings on the red tin box itself.
Seriously cool piece for tin collector or sewing antiques novelty collector or enthusiast!
I absolutely adore things like this & just have no more room here for it.
