The listing, Catalpa tree seedlings has ended.

For all of you out there who would love one of these trees but you are not real good at starting seeds....I have started these for you. This will be a short auction as I do not want them to get much bigger before I have to ship. They will be packed very carefully. There will be at least 2 seedlings. Good luck and happy bidding!

I wasn't familiar with this particular tree and so had to do a bit of research. I learned that the Catalpa or Catawba tree is native to North America and enjoys warm regions most. It can be grown successfully in the northern regions of US and southern Canada.

The largest living catalpa tree is on the grounds of the Michigan State Capitol in Lansing, Michigan; it was planted in the year of its dedication, 1879. The oldest is the 150-year-old specimen in the Minster graveyard of St Mary’s Butts in the English town of Reading in Berkshire, although this is soon to be replaced, passing the claim to Rochester's 140-year-old catalpa situated in front of the town's cathedral. (ref: wikipedia.org).

I also learned that particular worms and catapillars attracted to the Catalpa tree which grow along river banks in America is a most beneficial part of the ecosystem. The worms love the tree and often drop in water, which feed the fish. Birds also love to harbour in the tree because, Catalpa trees grow a dense canopy.

Excellent auction.. I would bid but, the tree wouldn't fare too well here in the city and my other option is property in the desert community of Palm Springs. The dry hot air would make it parish quickly.

I also found a wonderful website selling this particular tree. This is a great buy and so, I would recommend anyone needing a hardy and ornamentl tree to quickly place your bid. http://www.tytyga.com/product/Catalpa+Tree
