Description

The listing, 42 badge celebration: Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy vintage Infocom software! Douglas Adams fans! has ended.

I have just earned Listia badge #42, which means I went to my WEIRD STUFF closet and blew the dust off this fantastic find, just for fans of the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy.

For some reason, the box says this is Apple II software, but the floppy inside is for IBM (DOS 2.0). Either way, this is the original Infocom packaging from the old Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy game, circa 1982. This is essential for fans of Douglas Adams (RIP) as this game was written by Mr. Adams himself.

I have no way to test this ancient software media to see if I can still travel the galaxy with Arthur, Ford, Trillian, and Zaphod; I have no idea how well this type of disk ages and whether or not the memory of the game is still preserved. However, just this box and the floppy inside are a rare novelty. Even the registration cards are present.

This box originally came with a button that said DON'T PANIC, and a pencil. Unfortunately, these two items are missing. However, the demolition orders for Arthur Dent's house, in English, and demolition orders for the Planet Earth, in Vogon, are included in the box. And you still get NO TEA.

I hate to let this interesting find go, but it has been sitting in a closet for years. I am a true fan but I have no way to play the game and I want this to go to someone who'll appreciate it for what it is every bit as much as I do.

Happy bidding, you hoopy froods! And DON'T PANIC!

I welcome and encourage local pickup in Indianapolis, IN, Planet Earth.
