Even if the test does not come out as you wish, early thermoplastic jewelry can be very Collectible.

the test is very simple.take a paper towel or cloth and spray some 409 on it and wipe the part of the item you think is bakelite.if the cloth turns green it is bakelite.if notning happens its not.you can use awesome from the dollar store and the cloth will turn orange, you can also use simichrome but thats very pricey stuff but that too will turn the cloth orange.i use awesome in the shop.it's always best to see for yourself rather than just accepting that someone knows.hope this helps.

Ok i have heard that before now that you say it. Dont k ow if it was for bakelite, so if it comes clear after wiping ive got a bunch of cheap plastic . But but but. ... that would stink since i have many pieces i havent displayed or tried to sell yet. Pretty ironic huh, im doing the same as you at your age and i thot it was nutty. But it is actually fun as heck, and make a few dollars. And a few is what i mean. Thanks for the tip, ill be getting some awesome and tryinh it out, may have to adjust my listing.
