you know, i didnt really consider that thank you, as far as the item are concerned, i have several sets of these, different states, and they,,, well wait a minute...ok, some of them, calif. losangels and atlanta ga, several do have marking on the ottom, but they are numbers, ca;--S-77 GA--57-12...now, , i have broken a couple of them and as far as i can tell, and this is kind of strange, but the cups, i would almost swear on it, are porcelain and the saucer is well sort of a clay mix . not cermaic, way to heavy for that, and much older kind of material. and. looking again, some of the saucers are also porcelain. i am thinking that each state maybe did differently,?? that is really all of the info i know. i got these from out of a little old womens home that i helped to clean out ...well after,,,,, she passed. so yes that is all i can tell you, sorry. but whom ever wins this auction will find out for them selves.. (thats a hint as to what is the extra item,,,:-) this is a one and only hint i will ever give on my seceret extra;s) :-: :-)))

oh yes, and most of them, not all but these one do, have the gold trim witch in my experience it is usually real gold trim, if it is and it is dishwasher washed it will more than likely come off. it should be very gently cleaned asap after use and gently patted dry. :-) and this i found out the hard way, and then i discovered through a little research, that is what happens with this type of thing. i had wine glasses with 24kt gold trim and i ruined hem. also i had some dinnerware, my grand moms, and i ruined most of them as well. :-(((
