Description

The listing, Scarlet Runner Beans 20 seeds heirloom - Red Flowers! has ended.

Scarlet Runner beans are in the runner bean family, Phaseolus coccineus, which is actually a different species than the beans you see in the store! (Kidney and pinto and etc are all Phaseolus vulgaris. Limas are Phaseolus lunatus.) Do you want to eat a different bean species for free? People have been growing and eating it since at least 1750, it's an old heirloom, and delicious! And your garden will look beautiful growing these 7 foot tall vines of pole beans with BRIGHT RED flowers. This is a very ornamental and showy plant. It even attracts hummingbirds! 60-90 days. You can eat it as a green bean and as a dry bean too.

Also, the seeds are pretty big, some of them are close to an inch long! Shipped in a bubble envelope for protection.

These are commercial (food & food grade) seeds, about 2014 - but it is very uncommon to find them in any store, I got lucky. I've tested them and they grow and produce same looking beans. Likely grown in a huge field of identical beans & open pollinated.

I've been growing commercial food & food grade beans since I was eight years old and never had a problem, they ALWAYS grow. And beans are good at germinating for a long time - they even got ones to grow found in a 1500 year old clay pot in a cave (variety now known as cave beans and by a few other names)!
