My son got this for Christmas last year (it was purchased at Target) but he has an iPod touch that he uses as an alarm so this never was opened.

I also want to mention that my husband is a smoker, although he does NOT smoke in our home. We also have a new puppy.

Hello! I wonder if the backlight is always on. Do not leave my trauma because I bought an alarm clock has numbers so bright that I think my neighbors think I keep encounters with heavenly beings because the blue light that escapes from my window.

I haven't opened it so I assume that it is on try me mode. In any case, I had to press the button at the top to get it to come on. I wanted to make sure that you guys knew that it really does work. I can't say for sure that it will be that way once off the trial mode. The red light is pretty dim though, certainly not bright enough for the neighbors, lol.
