The listing, Gateway Solo 1150CL Laptop has ended.

In its heyday, this laptop sold for $1400 & it still works fine, it's just old. Don't expect to play any fancy new games on it, but it's a solid email checking, word processing, and other low resource activity machine. Comes with its battery, ac adapter, disk drive, optical drive, and an ethernet adapter in its PCMCIA slot. The ethernet adapter accesses the internet via an ethernet cable - for wireless, you would need a PCMCIA wireless card, which run about $8-9 these days. This computer is already loaded with Windows ME & Office.

I am offering free shipping, but please, please, please bid this up to make this worth my while. (I may list some more electronics I have lying around the house if I know I won't pay the shipping for nothing.)

I just checked - the RAM on this has been upgraded to it's full capacity (192 mb), so no upgrades needed there.

This wasn't my computer & I haven't had occasion to test it all the way to dead. I've only had it unplugged for about 30 min or so to install some software, but it did not seem to run the battery down a lot.

Just pull out the Ethernet card in the side & stick in the new card. No tools required. If the new card comes with drivers, then install them from the cd or manufacturer's website (make sure they have them for this OS before buying the card though). That's it!

Yes, if you look at that little thing sticking out of the side on the 3rd picture (says D-Link on it), that is the PCMCIA card that has the ethernet port. You only need to get another card if you want *wireless* internet.

Oh, and based on the Windows ME, I am assuming it is from 2000-2001 or thereabouts, since XP debuted in late 2001/early 2002.

Yes, it has Word. In fact, it has an entire Office suite.

Oh, yeah, it should be able to do Facebook & web browsing. Would probably even play some older games, I just didn't want to get someone's hopes up about getting it for their kid to play the latest Gears of War on it or something.
