The listing, Lot of 3 ERROR Wheat pennies 2x BIE 1 filled B 1 rpm south D/D mintmark has ended.
Three error pennies, 57d, 55d and 58 d
I think they are in xf condition, surely they are at least vf, but please look at photos
The first close up is of the 57d. The bottom of the B in Liberty is filled, and it's a BIE error, the extra metal between the b and e of Liberty. Sometimes you would swear it is really an I
The second close up is of the 55d. Another typical BIE but in late stage. Just a great big blob between the b and e
The other close ups are of a rpm, repunched mint mark. I really like these. The mintmark used to be added by hand after the die was engraved. They apparently didn't like the first one, so struck it again, but not exactly over the other one. This gives us a d/d impression. Most seem to have the lighter one west, to the left, of the main one.
If you look closely at my close ups, you will see the top of the first d inside the bold d, then the bottom of the d is below the bold d. This is taken at about 40x magnification, though you should be able to see it at 10x or so, just not as well. Some folk with good eyes can see it without magnification, I'm too old and need new glasses lol
Please do not confuse this with the s/d or d/s errors. That happened when mints sent their already mm struck die to another mint. Those are the ones that are worth the big bucks. The principle is the same. These are just worth less. I don't want people to bid 300000 points thinking it's one of those big type errors. These are still scarce and I think worthwhile collecting. And are affordable for the most part. The ones where the two mint marks don't even touch are worth good money, but I've only ever found one of those.
