These pieces of vintage jewelry are absolutely stunning in person!

INTAGLIO ~ When an object of glass or gemstone has been carved or molded INTO the front side to form a pattern or picture. Similar to a cameo, however, a cameo is carved or molded in RELIEF, and an intaglio is carved or molded into the object. So.........a cameo is an "out-y", an intaglio is an "in-y", and a reverse intaglio is an "in-y" from the back.

These are lovely little unique earrings with tiny little "sapphires" and "topazs". The actual cameos are set in a pale green stone. The stones are not real. If you look thru a loup you can see that they are not pronged in like real stones would be

I don't know what the metal is but it does tarnish and cleans up beautifully with silver polish. Also, a magnet does not stick to it.

They are both marked with a star inside a circle on the back side bottom of the filegre "frames". That is the only mark on them.

The back of the cameo glass (or setting) is also silver colored. I don't know if it was painted on or not because the edges are very clean. Kind of like it was coated before it was set into the frame.

I'm officially going to call them silverTONE costume jewelry for the sake of this auction since I don't know for sure what the metal is.

I don't know for sure how old they are either but I know they are at least 30 years old and probably older. They may even be from the 60's or 70's. I'll just call them early leverback era,
