Description

The listing, Bournemouth Crumb Catcher Antique has ended.

This is a crumb catcher the Bournemouth family used to get bread crumbs off the floor. I am not sure who they were but they could be descended from a group of knights due to its heraldic family crest. It is definitely an antique because of its marks of use and age. Based on research, this family probably came from England. It's heraldic symbols have meaning. The blue color means trust and loyalty, the lion means diligence, speed and courage. The Dolphins or whales mean charity and love. The gold color means friendship and the chickens mean reflex. Thank you.

Could it be a Bedwarmer? I'm trying to picture someone sitting underneath the table with this contraption, trying to catch crumbs as they fall lol. I may just be ignorant as to the proper use of it though.

Crumb Catcher - a small receptacle with a handle and hinged cover, used for collecting ashes and crumbs. Debris on a tablecloth would be brushed into it for disposal.

It is 9 1/2 in long, and 3 1/8 in in diameter for the actual crumb catching part. Thanks for asking.
