The listing, CATTAIL SEEDS 100+ PLANT NOW ZONES 7-11 has ended.
Cattails are an aquatic herb found in temperate and tropical climates. These perennial plants are distinguished by their velvety brown seed head and graceful green stalks. They are found along the edges of ponds, lakes, marshes and moisture-retentive soil. Cattails spread by seed and rhizomes
Select a spot that is moist year round, but not under water . YOU MAY WATER AT TIMES IN THE FALL OR WHEN TEMPETURES ARE ABOVE FREEZING
Prepare your seed bed. Remove grass and any weeds
In early fall, broadcast sow your cattail seeds in the seed bed.
Rake the cattail seeds into the soil to a depth of 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
Keep the seed bed free of grass and other weeds until the cattail seedlings begin to emerge in early summer of the following year.
You may also start these in medium sized pots outside. Plant the same way and leave out all winter. Water except if freezing. You can then transplant into the ground in the spring. They are a welcome sight if you have a ditch that holds water. You may grow them in your flower garden but they have to have moist soil. They tend to spread and take over. If you don't want this, pull some up in late summer when the plants start to burst open. You can also save your seeds to share for fall planting. The rule is to plant within 100 days when you dry your seeds. Thanks for your intrest in my auction and please email with any questions. I ship the next day
