There is nothing more delightful than walking through the garden that you planted from seed! The surprises, the triumphs and sometimes failures of mix and matching plants leads you down the "garden path" of trial and error. Sometimes you find plants that thrive and multiply and other times the plants will not cooperate at all -- but when all is said and done, and you walk along your garden path, you enjoy your garden jewels -- the flowers that you planted with great care. Enjoy your garden flowers, your precious yard jewels!
Yummy! Yummy! Today you are looking at a fantastic tomato! I came across this tomato (actual TOMATO) late in the season last year and absolutely fell in the love with the sweat taste, the huge size -- almost 2lbs -- as well as the red and yellow color of this huge beefsteak type tomato. I had to save the seeds and grow my own plant, which I did successfully!
This tomato has a lot of "meat" and few seeds. If you are tired, like me, of buying tomatoes at the store that seem to be "hollow" with huge open air pockets and loads of seeds -- or worried about food contamination from the store . . . then you WANT to grow your own food, or at least some of your own food. Tomato plants are one of the easiest food sources to grow.
Plants yield a lot of fruit! Tomato has somewhat of a sweet fruity aftertaste. This tomato provides full flavor in every slice, or bite if you are one to eat your tomato whole. You'll love this tomato, I just can't say enough about it!
Germination: 7 - 10 days
Tip: Tomatoes are best started indoors. This needs to be done 5 to 7 weeks before the last anticipated frost date. The seedlings can then be transplanted into your garden anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks after the last actual frost date. Call your County Extension Office to get frost information for your area.
