The listing, ~*~ 2 Dollar Canada Coin ~*~ interesting Valuable? has ended.

Wish I could have got a great picture of this very interesting coin, I`ve had it for over 10 years had it in my jewelery box, thought I`d try to fid out some info on it, well they call it a "Tonnie" it is bi-metalic metal it is pretty neat looking it has a polar bear one one side and the Queen Elizabeth on the other but it looks like a coin inside a coin, found some listings going for 19.95 , 14.00 and 8.00 stopped looking after 3 different prices my puter is acting like its stuttering & going slow so I gave up on investigating any further, I read something about there were only so many of these 1996 coins made when I got it years ago I lived close to Canada, but I know its gotta be worth something, it weighs 7.3 grams
its pretty cool to look at, so hey this might make a great gift to those coin collectors in your life, its really interesting wish the pics were better for you, thanks for looking and please check out my other listings :)

I am a Canadian who is living here in the States.... I sure miss seeing and using toonies!
(The one dollar coin has a picture of a loon on it so we call it a "Loonie".)

Hi there :) I'm from Canada. We use toonies daily. They were brought into circulation in 1996. Wikipedia says:
"By the end of 1996, the Winnipeg facility had struck 375 million of these coins.[10] The coin was officially launched at Ben’s Deli in Montreal on February 19, 1996.[11]"

I think the coin you are thinking of that is rare is the Newfoundland Two dollar coin,

"The Newfoundland 2 dollar coin was issued in intermittent years between 1865 and 1888. It was the only circulation gold coin issued by a British colony. Although few coins were issued, it was broadly used in Newfoundland and Eastern Canada. The coin became scarce in 1894 because of hoarding following the collapse of Newfoundland's banks and monetary system."

I may be wrong, but I don't know anything of the "toonie" being rare or worth anything. Unless it's a special commemoration for something, but again, not sure if there is any..? Sorry.
