The Old Red Sandstone describes a suite of sedimentary rocks deposited in a variety of environments during the Devonian millions of years ago.The familiar red colour of these rocks arises from the presence of iron oxide but not all the Old Red Sandstone is red or sandstone — the sequence also includes conglomerates, mudstones, siltstones and thin limestones and colors can range from grey and green through red to purple.

Soooo.... I'll be good and not put you to sleep( just like I did to myself ) with all the technical stuff...and tell you this....
You get this gorgeous but fragile ( very thin and breakable) chunk of Sandstone that is millions of years old with the imprinted fossil of the lizard in it, a stand to set it on, and I'll probably pick out a few of my more expensive, hand polished stones AND THE CUTE LITTLE LIZARD KEY CHAIN WITH CRYSTALS ON IT! I THINK THE LUCKY WINNER WILL LOVE IT!!
SO THERE YA GO, MY HARD WORK AND BEAT UP HANDS WILL SEND IT TO YOU, PACK IT, TRACK AND INSURE IT JUST TO SEND TO YOU!
GOOD LUCK , LOVE & LIGHT BE WITH YOU.....XOXOXOXOXXO

Hmmm, your name fits you well... up for auction on your reality page is
#1 2 different western graphic novels comics.
#2 lot of 4 different star wars graphic novel comics.
#3 zombie/horror graphic novel comics

i could go on, but i don't do mindless literature...unless it includes hot men....

this is a lizard/salamander who had the misfortune of being on a hill, rock, or just the wrong place at the wrong time as a volcanic eruption caught him as it blew, melting his poor lil body to the stone and left there for many years to heat by the sun....it's more of an imprint (same thing) try to wash it off or scrape it, you can't!

lesson number one...take a step out of the mindless reading material you have your face buried in....

lesson 2, never underestimate an 8 year college grad with a doctorate a major and 2 minors...hot nerds will always prove you wrong...so put that in your pocket protector.... or do you even have one? xoxo :)

That lizard image reminds me of the shadow images of people and things you can still see in japan left by the atom bomb blasts . How's that for understanding what you are attempting to get in the previous message comment :) xoxoxoxo

Time for my two cents worth ... the lizard image on the red sandstone is a fossil , before you jump in and start disagreeing let me explain .
It is an example of a carbonaceous film fossil. A carbonaceous film or carbon film is an organism outline of a fossil. It is a type of fossil found in any rock when organic material is compressed, leaving only a carbon residue or film. The soft tissues of organisms are made largely of organic carbon compounds. Sometimes, fossils contain only carbon. Fossils usually form when sediment buries a dead organism. As sediment piles up, the organism's remains are subjected to pressure and heat. These conditions force gases and liquids from the body. A thin film of carbon residue is left, forming a silhouette of the original organism called a carbon film. The soft tissues of organisms are made largely of organic carbon compounds and during diagenesis under reducing conditions only a thin film of carbon residue is left which forms a silhouette of the original organism.Diagenesis alters the proportions of organic collagen and inorganic components (hydroxyapatite, calcium, magnesium) of bone exposed to environmental conditions, especially moisture. This is accomplished by the exchange of natural bone constituents, deposition in voids or defects, adsorption onto the bone surface and leaching from the bone.
Did this help your discussion ?
Both of you two are not the only ones that can play this game .

SL1 - to acknowledge your message , I did review both web pages that you listed as evidence on your claim of sandblast creation . I will admit there was a marked difference to both examples provided but seeing as neither were simular to the item offered in this auction , the point is moot . Thank you for your insight and interest in this auction . - mark

Not a good day once again... I am trying not to block Mr. Negativity, but I am a nice person and give people more chances than they deserve but right about now that block button is looking pretty good....I have enough REAL drama in my life but try not to show it. Once in a while someone can come along and just really tick me off, who are you to question me???? I never said snot till you opened your mouth.

debby ,
Sit in the chair by the window , hold one of your healing stones in your left hand . Close your eyes , take a few cleansing breath then let its positive energy wash over your body and mind . Stay there while calming thoughts clear away the negative drama....../mark

Major and minors in what? Bull dung?
Even an student taking geology can tell a fake fossil from a real one. You can tell by the lack of bone details. Just because I read comics doesn't mean I don't read factual text books as well. I have quite the large fossil collection and have studied the subject for longer than you have been alive. If you are so smart, explain the lack of a rib cage impression in this so called "fossil". Practice false advertising and you will be called out!

No, I won't be bidding. The stone you have listed above was made with a sandblaster. See image at the link below:

http://buildmakecraftbake.com/2009/03/how-to-tuesday-sandblasting-with.html

A real fossil of an entire lizard will look like the this link:

If you are as educated as you claim to be, you will see and understand the difference.

I haven't been home much but I am having my kiddo give me a hand today.. we will be putting together some of my items (not for sale) on a listia page and since all of my items are authentic, I can't have you tell me what is or is not....I'd just like to show you what I have worked my backside off to dig up, a few awesome things ...a couple are pics of the item i sold ...sometimes you can't say no to 100's of thousands for a rare find. It bothers me to no end that even some fool thinks I'm fake, I wish it didn't bug me but it does and to call me on it or anything I have done in my life (you'd be amazed) is like kicking me in the gut... I can take it, but won't! And then I kick back.
