USNO is a marking from the U S Naval Observatory. I researched it on another website.

Could be USND too, it's hard to see for sure. It's also hard to believe that I can't find anything definitive about this on the internet ... you'd think there's be SOMETHING about jewelry with that mark!
I saw other pieces on ebay with those marks, but didn't read all the listings, I thought the sellers were just saying it was marked that way, but otherwise was unidentified. It would be interesting to know the history behind it!
Y'know, I kinda doubt it. I still think it is a maker's mark. Maybe it was a maker who wasn't around, or operating under that name, for very long. However, the US Naval Observatory is a tourist attraction, perhaps they sold jewelry at some time in the past that was manufactured for them, but I just kind of doubt it has anything to do with the Navy.
