The winner of this auction will receive the 1855 Large Cent shown in the attached photos. This coin may have been a ‘metal detector find’ because it has some corrosion and light surface pitting. It was probably buried in the earth at one time and exposed to acids in the soil. This can really do a number on coins depending on how many years they were buried. Although it is not a great coin it is not horrible either. It could fill a hole in your collection until you find a better one. Or if you are creating a type set of old US coins, here’s one you can pick up cheap.
