The listing, Mistletoe has ended.
Allow me to post a bit of background before I get into my auction. When I was a child, mother would climb to the highest peaks of the highest trees to drop mistletoe on our heads. We would gather the lovely parasite (yes, it is a parasite to the trees) and take it home to make beautiful little mistletoe bouquets. We would then go to the local department stores and stand outside in the freezing cold and sell these bunches for a dollar each. We never had much for Christmas so my mother would split the money up between us three children and we would buy each other and our parents Christmas gifts. I have long since grown up and have children of my own. I wanted to start the tradition with my children, with a twist. We would sell the mistletoe the same as when I was a child, except we would pick 1 or 2 families in the community that needed that extra oomph and buy toys and other items for the whole family. It worked for 2 years. We were able to help 2 families the first year and 4 the next. However, the 3rd year the department stores told us to get lost. We haven't been able to do it for the last 3 years because no one will let us stand beside their doors. I discussed it with my boys and we have decided that Listia might be the answer to our dilemma. I am listing this first auction for mistletoe with free shipping so that more people will see it. If it does well, I will list more, but I will have to charge a little for shipping on those. My children are going to have a good Christmas, but I don't have the extra to spend on shipping charges if I end up listing as many as I hope. We have already chosen several families to be the recipients for this year's Mistletoe Ministry if we are able to make this work on Listia. I appreciate your patience if you have read my memoir in its entirety. We are praying that this works. God bless all and have a wonderful Christmas!!!
