Murder at Holy Cross by Peter Davidson:
Abott Gregory Wendt and his priestly partner, Father Damien Gibault, established Holy Cross Academy as a Catholic school which also boasted a small monastery for young monks in training. However, things were not as they seemed. Wendt was not really an Abott as he lacked the proper credentials and training. He just assumed the title because he felt himself worthy of the title. In addition, Father Gibault, who should have been under supervision, was not. And, unbeknownst to Sister Michelle Lewis, a nun who worked tirelessly at Holy Cross for 10 years, she was not really a nun. You see, Abott Gregory Wendt did not wish to follow the rules of the Catholic Archdiocese, so he effectively "divorced" Holy Cross Academy from the Archdiocese... a legal maneuver that left Sister Michelle without a convent, and Abott Gregory Wendt accountable to no one.

SCAM ALERT ... if you are bidding on a high-value item, like an ipod or other expensive electronic or jewelry item, particularly with a NEW seller, try this ... google the title and/or text of the item, then click on images -- you might see the SAME photos posted with an item for sale NOT on Listia!

A moderator just informed me that an Ipod I was bidding on was copied exactly from a craigslist ad ... photos, title and text. The seller, drewjohn32 (block him now) was answering a million comments, had a sad story (like so many Listia members), and I thought for SURE he was legit.

The point is, YOU can do the same thing as the moderators ... google search for an item that seems too good to be true, click on "images" at the top of the google search page, and if it is a scam you'll find the same item being sold on ebay, craigslist, or possibly another web site--copied, unbeknownst to the REAL seller of the item, and posted on Listia.

I think this is a GREAT tip!

Listia simply can't prevent people from coming here and perpetuating scams like this. It's up to ALL of us to police this site ... the mods can't do it all (but they do a pretty good job, IMO).

For anyone that hasn't dealt with this seller yet....LET me just say I am a very satisfied customer just received my items today and I must say I am impress! Very nice, fast,smooth transaction and the items are better than the described. I received 2 stuff purses with everything inside new. I had previously won a stuff purse from another Listia member and that was a disaster and I had told myself I was not going to do it again...but then I saw Rose61's stuff purse auction and I bid and won and I'm so happy I did everything was amazing. Thank you Rose!!! 5????? GREAT SELLER AND MEMBER!!!
