does this have a ceramic or metal insert? can never have too many 40 blades! i wouldnt use it on a shih tzu though, this is a vet length blade for removing ALL the hair, your dog will be absolutely bald, and its easy to cut their skin when you use these without a comb attachment! (just trying to save you some trouble)

lol I am a vet tech at an animal hospital and yes this size blade does shave bald! We use them at work to shave all hair to prep for surgery..They will cut skin easy if not careful..

i wouldn't use this for a dog this is a really close cut best for a bridle path or muzzle on a horse
