Description

The listing, SOUTHERN MAGNOLIA SEEDS has ended.

Southern magnolias are an old southern classic here in Alabama (it's not ALL pine trees!). These trees are huge and beautifully shaped - the leaves are shiny and very dark green, very thick and papery feeling. The blooms are huge white flowers with a wonderful fragrance that fills the whole yard. In the fall, the flowers turn into weird little cones and produce bright red seeds.

These seeds are from my mother's Southern Magnolia tree from last year - she collects the bright red seeds and dries them and gave me some to share with you! As you can see from the picture, the color of the seeds changes after drying. You are bidding on five of these seeds - and you better have a pretty big yard to grow five of these trees!

I would advise starting them in pots, and transplanting small saplings later. Plus, you could share extras with friends that way!

You can go online to check out more details about this tree - the official name is magnolia grandiflora, commonly called Southern magnolia.

Seeds are packaged and ready to mail as soon as auction ends and I receive your mailing address.

Sounds like it would take half of my life time to get a big plant out of these seeds.

in human years or kitty years? lol!
but seriously, you'd have a HUGE TREE in about 20 years - I don't know your age, but you can do the math and we'll keep your age a secret! ;)

Can these be pot grown like avocado? I'm in a colder climate but have been growing my avocado from a pit. Now it's 4 feet and growing like crazy in a pot.

never heard of them in a pot for more than the first couple of years, then transplanted to permanent spot in yard - maybe you should check them out online - official name is "grandiflora magnolia"
