is cable on side and do you have to put it in

i put a 14 stitch motif on the side, but you could easily take it out or replace it with any kind of lace you wanted to, or a cable if that was the desire. the main thing is to make sure you have a little bit of elasticity so it doesn't end up being tight. if you wanted me to help you modify this pattern i would since i wrote it myself anyway ;)
