The listing, 1909 VDB WHEAT PENNY has ended.
A 1909 wheat penny with "VDB" inscribed on the reverse at the base of the coin. The history of this coin is as follows:
In January 1909, the Mint engaged Victor David Brenner to design a cent depicting the late president, Abraham Lincoln, 1909 being the centennial year of his birth. Brenner's design was eventually approved, and the new coins were issued to great public interest on August 2, 1909. Brenner's initials (VDB), on the reverse at its base, were deemed too prominent once the coins were issued, and were removed within days of the release.
Wow!!! Awesome coin! Especially impressive is the history which you so graciously added, something which I have not seen very much of. I am very much intrigued by this coin! Bidders beware!
How incredibly gracious of you to comment so kindly! Sorry if the following terribly negative, but I think you know the laziness that abounds around here, as well as the lidiocy ; ) This is exactly why I have been sitting on 2 Samsung phones in mint condition for several months.
The first auction was a lot of fun but the next two were nightmares; and although each of the 3 previous phones I auctioned sold for credit highs at the time, I don't believe I possess the required tact nor the generosity of spirit I believe to be absolutely necessary when auctioning items. Maybe I'm too old for this, lol!
I just noticed one is listed for 1,500,000 credits. The condition doesn't look that good from the photos though. I just pulled out my book to see which one's I'm missing.
