Heirloom. An old, classic favorite dating from the 1920s, this ribbed melon has a heavily netted skin. Also called muskmelon. As melons go, this one is a little more drought tolerant than most, but remember that all melons are more than 90% water. Likes hot weather. Delicious, firm flesh is rich with antioxidants.

These are from last year's crop which we really enjoyed! Very sweet and flavorful. We had so much cantaloupe we almost got tired of it! Almost. ;)

Plant in nutrient rich soil and space plants about 3 feet apart. I've seen it suggested to grow them on a trellis, but we had the best luck with them spread on the ground. With a trellis you'd need to support the fruit when it gets heavy or they tend to fall off the vine.
