Hi! If you are waiting for a book that is hard to put down, I have just the one for you. I bought this book three days ago and just finished it last night. It was fantastic!
The story takes place in 1962 in Jackson, Mississippi. It centers around the domestic help hired by white families and how awfully "the help" were treated.
It amazes me that not that long ago people of color
were treated like second class citizens.If you read nothing else this year, you must read this!

I want to tell you a funny story regarding this book. Every night before I go to bed I read. Anyway, I was reading last night and lo and behold I must have fallen asleep with the book on my face. I woke after a while and my first thought was "OMG, I am blind!". I totally freaked. Now mind you, I never checked to see where my book was. I very gently woke up my partner and said very calmly...."I'm blind". My partner very calmly stated "I am going to preform a magic trick and you will see again". Naturally I did not think this was funny but I was afraid to move too. My partner said Abbra-caddabra your vision is returned" and took the book off of my face.I was mortified and turned over. I said "You are not funny!". My partner said " I thought I was brilliant". I laughed and then we went to sleep. Moral of the story.......Try not to fall asleep with your book on your face. Thank you for stopping by and if you win this book DON'T FALL ASLEEP WITH IT OR YOU MIGHT WAKE UP WITH IT ON YOUR FACE! lOL!

Is the book in well enough condition to give as a gift? I assume it is since you bought it 3 days before posting... but just checking! My mom and I exchange gently used books as gifts at Christmas time
