Description

The listing, Vintage fabric half square triangles has ended.

These half square triangles are left over from a full sized quilt top I made using vintage fabric cut-a-ways I picked up in Long Beach, Ca., at the flea market, fabrics I've collected, including feedsack and some cotton blends.. The cut-a-ways were from a man whose mother had saved them over the years to make a quilt. She passed before doing that... There are 66 half square triangles, trimmed to 1.5 or 1.75 inches square or mostly up to 2." The last picture is a strip of the miniature quilt that I'm making with these triangles, and is not offered here, but serves as an example of size. I may be able to include a few more scraps, if you'd like. I was thinking of making tiny quarter squares and creating a miniature quilt of my miniature quilt.... Please watch and fan me, I've got lots to share!

Fanned! Love these pieces! I just made my first quilt - can't read a pattern to save my soul but did it from an idea in my head. Would really love to try more... now cheered on by my family who gave me a new sewing machine!

Love miniatures... that's a great (and cute) idea! Do you have a miniature room shadow-box to display it in yet??? hint hint

No I don't, hmmmm..... I think about doing a whole wall in miniatures. My own little mini, my first, will be under 24" x 24." Good thing I'm not super fussy about matching seams. I'm not paper piecing this one, but will next time!

Congratulations! Would love to see a pic... You're lucky to get a new sewing machine. I'm using an old Husqvarna, SewEasy, but I figure if our foremothers could do it with simple or primitive tools, so can I! Glad to help you with patterns if you need it. A four patch is perfect for a beginner, or even a nine patch.

My daughter carried on the Husqvarna tradition in this family... she has 3 and I have one... the oldest were the heaviest, but best. Low gear for slow-going power!

Mine is a Viking Sew-Easy. Simple, but will do a few nice things. Came in really handy when I was making my costumes! In fact, it's what I learned to sew on. Couldn't afford to buy costumes, so made my own by putting together pieces of this pattern and that... I have an old Singer Featherlite, I think it's called, and another machine my Mom gave me, but the Husky just does the job!
