It can go either way. Given it is a light stretchy cotton, on those wanna feel sexy days, put it in the dryer on high heat for about 5 minutes. You'll definately get that pencil look. On your casual days, soak it in cold water in the sink for about 2 minutes, then hang dry it and prior to it being completely dry, stretch it out a little so that when it's completely dry, you'll have that beautiful maxi look ;)

It doesn't have one, but given that I myself wear 2X - 3X, I was able to wear this dress comfortably. It's a thin stretchy cotton, so it does stretch quite a bit.
